So why JJ’s at Eleven?
So, why JJ’s? It’s not groundbreaking just a blend of our initials, Jon and Jo, and it happens to be located at number 11 Market Place in Olney, Buckinghamshire. But we think it has a nice ring to it!
With our children all grown up and spreading their wings, we’ve found the perfect time to do the same chasing new ventures and following our passions. Yep, you’ve probably guessed it, we’re your typical 50 somethings!
Our life revolves around the kitchen. We cook, drink, sing, dance, and most importantly, eat! Food is always on my mind, from the moment I wake up (I’m already planning lunch and dinner as soon as breakfast is done) much to the amusement (and sometimes despair) of the family!
Cooking has always been my passion. Before starting JJ’s, I worked as a brand leader for a well known oven brand, NEFF, famous for its unique sliding door that featured on Great British Bake Off. The foodie brand focused on the story behind every ingredient, from sourcing to preparation, cooking, and delivering the best meals for everyone to enjoy. I spent years demonstrating this passion through foodie events, including the Big Feastival in the Cotswolds, cookery schools, and training sessions, all to help people create delicious meals and see the joy it brings to their families, friends, and customers.
When the opportunity to buy No 11 Market Place in the charming town of Olney came up, it felt like the stars aligned. Though it was a big risk, we knew it was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up.
As locals ourselves, we’re excited to contribute to the community we love and to build strong connections right here in Olney. We’re beyond excited to welcome the wonderful people of Olney through our doors and fully integrate ourselves into the community.
Our goal is simple: to provide our customers with healthy, freshly cooked food that makes them smile, feel good, and leave with their tastebuds tingling and bellies happily satisfied.
Our Concept
At JJ’s we serve freshly cooked, healthy meals that not only nourish your body, make you feel good but keep you feeling satisfied and fuelled for the day.
Our speciality dishes are Ramens and Buddha Bowls but we have all the classics too including toasted sandwiches, homemade soups and jacket potatoes so we think we have just about everything covered to satisify all tastebuds but we couldn't forget our love for the sweet things we have a scrummy selection of cakes and pastries.
You can grab and go or if you’d prefer to take the load off and relax, catch up on some work or meet a friend though small we do have seating inside and always rearrange the tables to accommodate any small group.
Our Ingredients
We are committed to using only the freshest quality ingredients and all of our food is freshly prepared and cooked onsite. You may have a little wait but we promise you it will be worth it.
We source our breads and coffee from local suppliers and take pride in creating dishes that are both healthy and delicious.
We love food at JJ’s and as cliche as it sounds it really is the first thing I, Jo (Little J) thinks of when I wake up to when I goes to bed. Much to annoyance of the family. The menu is really everything i love to eat and create, i did tell you, you were in my kitchen!
I love food and I constantly change up the menu, and the ingredients we use to keep things fresh, seasonal and inspiring for you and to hopefully keep you coming back for more. So be sure to check out special boards too the dishes may be gone before you know it.
Our Atmosphere
Our cafe is designed to be a warm and welcoming space where you can relax and enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee. Though not a large space we do have indoor and outdoor seating, free Wi-Fi for our guests and our furry friends are welcome, as well as the troublesome two legged little ones.
JJ’s is pitched at the perfect location in the old market town of Olney. The residents have welcomed us with open arms and we endeavour to make them and whoever walks through our doors feel at home. There are no airs or graces but you will most certainly be greeted with a warm welcome and smile.
We love our customers and want them to feel that they are able to ask us for anything and provide valuable and honest feedback, we wouldn’t be open without you! We feel this is key so please don't be scared to let us know, we want to ensure consistancy and improve wherever and whenever we can.
The Future
So wheres' the bar?
So many of you have asked us this since we opened.
We decided to take things slowly when opening and we wanted to see how Olney greeted us and what our customers and the town were looking for, gain some feedback and feel the space around us and how it worked before completely revamping or doing anything too drastic.
So we decided on a phased approach to our plans. But rest assured Big J can’t wait get behind the decks and share his love of music with you all, and what goes well with music.... oh yes Cocktails and our Loz loves to experiment.
